Gursha is owned by Etayehu, a native Ethiopian who has a desire to bring the foods of her country to the people of Lancaster County. She has been at Eastern Market from its first season. The menu of Gursha includes a vegetarian platter, meat platter, doro (chicken), and gomen (cabbage). Ethiopian food is eaten with injera, the staple bread of Ethiopia. It is made with four grains and then fermented. It takes 3 to 6 days to make an injera, and each one is made by hand! Also available are mint tea and Ethiopian chai tea, made with loose tea and cloves. All of Gurshaís ingredients are organic, free range, and local grown. Gursha believes in zero wasteóbring your own reusable plates and utensils for a discount. The traditional utensil of Ethiopia is a pair of freshly washed hands! Samples are available upon request, and every new customer is treated to one free injera.
