Woman2Woman
Lancaster grew out of Ann Duval and Sue Waterfield’s desire to raise
awareness and create greater acceptance of the many wellness services available
in Lancaster.
In early 2003, they gathered a small group of women together to brainstorm
about the possibility of holding a local event that would showcase these
services. As the idea solidified, this core group of 18 women brought to
fruition a day-long event in October 2003–the first of its kind in Lancaster–that
attracted more than 300 women and was an unqualified success.
As the group and the event continued to grow, additional planning became
necessary. An Executive Committee was established in 2004; 11 women have
served since then. Currently, seven women sit on the Executive Committee.
Each volunteers her time throughout the year to organize our annual event,
and an extended group of women provide their services free of charge that
day in an effort to introduce themselves and their techniques to women
who may otherwise not be aware of their availability.
Our key operational principle is collaboration; the cooperative efforts
of many women enable us to make an important contribution to our community.
Individually, we are small business owners, employees, volunteers, and
homemakers. Collectively, we gather at our annual event, which is an opportunity
for like-minded women from all walks of life to meet each other and explore
different avenues to well-being in a friendly environment.
Dedicated to supporting all women, Woman2Woman Lancaster has
donated nearly $7,000 dollars to Lancaster County Domestic Violence Services
and the YWCA of Lancaster.
